  1. What was something that stood out to you from this past Sunday’s message? Share what you learned and how it will impact your life.

  2. Read 1 Timothy 1:1-17. In verses 3-7, What are some examples of false teaching? Why is it so easy to be influenced by ideas and teachings that are not found in Scripture?

  3. How do you guard your doctrine against outside teaching? What steps do you take to make sure you are carefully evaluating what you hear?

  4. Paul taught the truth out of love. How do you see truth and love working together? Which is more likely for you: speaking without love or loving without speaking?

  5. This week, is there someone God wants you to speak the truth to in love, or is there someone God wants you to stop speaking to and simply love?

  6. Read 1 Timothy 1:8-11. How is the law good? How can it be used correctly? How can it be misused?

  7. How can your group pray for you this week to help you focus on Jesus and living a holy life instead of giving in to sin?

  8. Read 1 Timothy 1:12-17. How does Paul's story change your view of the gospel?

  9. What do you find most helpful about Paul's story? Why is his past important for Timothy and for us to understand?

  11. Paul wanted others to believe in Jesus to have eternal life. Who do you hope will come to faith in Jesus? How can you reach out to them? Take some time as a group to pray for their salvation and for your courage to share your faith.
