1 Peter 3 reminds believers to cultivate Christlike character in their relationships, pursue peace and unity, be prepared to give a reason for their hope, and trust in Christ’s victory even when suffering for doing what is right.

Peter points to Jesus as the ultimate example of enduring unjust suffering with patience and trust in God. Christ never retaliated but entrusted Himself to God and bore our sins in His body, healing us and guiding us back to the Shepherd of our souls.

Peter instructs believers to submit to authority for the Lord’s sake and to live as free people who use their freedom to honour God. Respect for others, love within the family of believers, and proper honour toward leaders reflects God’s heart.

Peter declares believers to be God’s chosen people, royal priests, a holy nation - called to show others God’s goodness. We are temporary residents in this world and must live honorably so our lives point people toward Christ.

Peter describes Jesus as the Living Stone rejected by people but chosen by God, and believers as living stones being built into a spiritual house. Christ is the cornerstone—secure for those who trust Him but a stumbling block for those who reject Him.

Peter urges believers to remove sinful attitudes—malice, deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and unkind speech. Instead, like newborn babies, we should crave the pure spiritual milk of God’s Word so we can grow into the fullness of our salvation.

1 Peter 2 reminds believers that they are God’s chosen people, called to build their lives on Christ, the Cornerstone, live honorably before others, and follow Jesus’ example of humble obedience and faithful endurance in suffering.
