Read 1 Thessalonians 4:1-12. Paul wants the Thessalonian church to live blamelessly and please God. Why is pleasing God a good basis for Christian ethics? How has this desire changed your choices or lifestyle?
Read 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8. Paul gives the basis for Christian ethics and morality. What motivates a Christian to live by God’s principles for sexuality? How would you define this holiness to which God has called us?
Read 1 Thessalonians 4:9-10. How does God help our love to grow more and more? The word for love here is “agape,” which is the love God has for us. How important are feelings in this kind of love? If this love is not based on feelings, how does it grow? What changes will you make in your life because of Paul’s challenge in these verses?
