Read Proverbs 2:1-22. What does the father tell his son to do in verses 1-3?
Read Proverbs 2:4-5. What promises are given to those who earnestly pursue wisdom?
Read Proverbs 2:4. Wisdom is compared to "hidden treasure." If you knew a million dollars was in your backyard, how would that change your routine? How does this relate to your pursuit of God's Word?
Read Proverbs 2:5-6. What’s the connection between seeking wisdom and understanding 'the fear of the Lord'? Read James 3:17, and contrast worldly wisdom with godly wisdom.
Read Proverbs 2:6-8. What aspects of God’s character will be discovered by those who pursue wisdom? Which of those aspects do you find encouraging right now in your walk with the Lord and why?
Read Proverbs 2:8. God promises that He will protect those who are faithful. Why do many devoted people still experience injustice or hardship?
Read Proverbs 2:10. Wisdom becomes "pleasant to your soul." How has God's wisdom or truth brought joy or relief to your life recently, rather than just being a set of rules?
Read Proverbs 2:9-19. We are given several examples of a life lived in wisdom before God. List them and consider how you have seen these characteristics of wisdom in your own life or in the lives of those around you.
What does Proverbs tell us is the first step to sexual sin and adultery? How is this different than what we would normally think? What is the connection between immorality and idolatry?
Read Proverbs 2:21. The promise for those who choose to walk in wisdom is that they will "live in the land". Read John 15:1-17, where Jesus tells us to remain in Him. How are John 15 and Proverbs 2 connected? What does it mean for you to stay close to Jesus?
