Living for God's Glory Through Every Season

In 1 Peter 4, Peter challenges believers to live with an eternal perspective. Because Christ suffered for us, our lives should no longer be driven by sinful desires but by the will of God. He writes,

"So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude he had." (1 Peter 4:1, NLT)

Following Jesus means leaving behind our old way of life and embracing the new life He has given us.

Peter acknowledges that choosing to follow Christ may cause others to misunderstand or even criticize us.

"Of course, your former friends are surprised when you no longer plunge into the flood of wild and destructive things they do. So they slander you." (1 Peter 4:4, NLT)

Yet instead of compromising our faith, we are called to remain faithful, remembering that:

"the end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers." (1 Peter 4:7, NLT).

A life centred on prayer helps us remain steadfast when the pressures of the world increase.

One of Peter's greatest emphases is the importance of loving and serving others.

"Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins." (1 Peter 4:8, NLT)

He continues,

"God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another" (1 Peter 4:10, NLT).

Every believer has been uniquely gifted, not for personal recognition, but to build up others and bring glory to God.

Finally, Peter encourages believers not to be surprised by suffering.

"Dear friends, don't be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you." (1 Peter 4:12, NLT)

Instead, we can rejoice because God is at work even in hardship. Peter concludes,

"If you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you, for he will never fail you." (1 Peter 4:19, NLT).

When we entrust ourselves to God's faithful care, every season- whether joyful or difficult - becomes an opportunity to reflect His glory.
