Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will have a background planning programs, possess good collaboration skills as well as strong leadership, management and organizational capabilities. The Camp Director must have a passion for serving others and the role will require patience, enthusiasm, self-control and dependability.
The role involves the planning, coordination and supervision of the entire summer camp program. The Camp Director will be responsible for ongoing communication with parents, guardians and fellow camp staff. The well-being, safety and supervision of camp environments and participants will be a primary responsibility of the Camp Director. Additionally, the Camp Director will plan, prepare and organize daily activities, site logistics (set-up/clean-up) and fulfill administrative duties related to camp operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in the planning and implementation of innovative summer outreach activities for children including one week of full day camp, designed to appeal to and include the various ethnic and cultural groups, new immigrants and low-income families that are represented by the demographic of these neighbourhoods and aligned with PORTICO’s overall community outreach strategy.
Demonstrate understanding of camp policies, regulations and standard operating procedures within the Kids Ministries Department.
Oversee program development, planning and execution of all camp activities and submits plans for approval to the Kids Ministries Facilitator
Collaborate with the Camp Administrative Assistant to create supplies lists and to ensure camp expenses fall within the summer camp operating budget
Submit supplies lists and expense proposals to the Kids Ministries Facilitator for approval prior to purchase
Purchase summer camp equipment and supplies, maintaining accurate records and inventory
Foster positive and cooperative working relationships with team members
Coordinate with the Kids Ministries Facilitator to organize and schedule trainings, as well as regular group meetings, with fellow summer camp interns
Generate necessary forms, letters and documents essential for camp implementation
Address and resolve questions, problems and concerns from parents/guardians before and during camp
Monitor peer culture to identify any problems or difficulties and collaborate with the Kids Ministries Facilitator address any issues
Ensure campers’ compliance with camp rules and regulations and intervene when needed
Support the implementation of positive behavioural management strategies
Manage emergency situations in coordination with the Kids Ministries Facilitator
Report all injuries and incidents promptly to the Kids Ministries Facilitator, collaborating to complete incident reports in a timely manner
Evaluate the overall program for efficient and optimal program delivery and recommend changes when necessary
Seek guidance or assistance from the Kids Ministries Facilitator when required
Plan weekly camp activity schedules with fellow summer camp interns
Supervise check-in/check-out procedures
Ensure compliance with Plan to Protect ratios by maintaining adequate camp staff levels in all camp areas
Greet parents during morning and afternoon check-in/check-out, addressing any questions they may have during these times

This role involves working closely with the Camp Director to oversee summer camp operations. Key responsibilities will include coordinating paperwork and handling administrative tasks for summer programs and managing camper information intake and records. Additionally, the position assists in all other areas of general operations for summer camp. Generate and respond to various forms of communication, including email and telephone communication

Create and send out emails to parents/guardians regarding summer camp, including confirmation of registration, needed information, pick up and drop off times, items to bring to camp, etc.

Update and maintain Kids Ministries social media platforms with relevant camp information, promotions and updates
Disseminate informational lists (e.g., medical and pre/after-care) to summer camp staff
Collaborate with the Kids Ministries Facilitator, Camp Director and fellow interns to enhance camper programs. This includes the improvement of application materials, brochures, daily schedules, registration processes, and policies

Ensure the timely update and dissemination of materials for campers, summer camp interns and volunteers

Position Overview:
The following are the areas and outcomes for which the individual is responsible, under the direction, mentoring, and supervision of the Milton Campus Associate Pastor:
Help develop and facilitate the planning and implementation of innovative summer engagement activities for families in the community. These programs are designed to appeal to and include various ethnic and cultural groups, new immigrants, and low-income families who may not otherwise be able to access activities due to social or financial barriers.
Build a schedule of events to engage children and youth in social and physical activities across the different campuses and communities that PORTICO serves.
Develop and deploy family-focused initiatives geared to supporting the family unit and encouraging positive and meaningful connections with peers and other families.
Develop and execute a promotional strategy to ensure the community is aware of services offered by PORTICO, including social media strategies
Participate as needed in the children’s and youth programs that are offered on Sunday mornings and Thursday evenings.
Maintain open and clear communication with parents and guardians of registrants
Develop and deploy a team of adult and youth mentors to serve children and families through these engagement events
Facilitate mentoring and development through organizing training sessions and following up with volunteers.
