Sunday

Reflect on the weekly readings with the following questions:

  1. Naomi experienced deep loss and bitterness (Ruth 1:20–21). When you go through painful seasons, how do you typically respond to God? What does Naomi’s honesty teach us about bringing our emotions to Him?

  2. Ruth chose loyalty and faithfulness to Naomi despite an uncertain future (Ruth 1:16–17). What motivates someone to make such a sacrificial commitment? How can we demonstrate that kind of faithful love in our relationships today?

  3. Ruth left her homeland, culture, and security to follow Naomi and the God of Israel. What are some things God might be calling you to leave behind in order to grow in faith or obedience?

  4. Naomi believed she had returned to Bethlehem “empty” (Ruth 1:21). Have you ever felt spiritually or emotionally empty? How might God still be working in those moments, even when you cannot see it?

  5. The chapter ends with Naomi and Ruth arriving in Bethlehem at the beginning of the barley harvest (Ruth 1:22). How does this small detail hint at hope and God’s provision? What “small signs of hope” has God placed in your life during difficult seasons?
