Pastor Hana’s Weekly Reflection
The bigger picture changes everything.
Have you ever zoomed way in on a photo – so close that all you could see was blur and pixels – and then zoomed out and suddenly the whole picture made sense? That’s the shift that begins to happen in Job 33-37.
As Elihu continues speaking, the conversation starts to move away from arguments and explanations and toward perspective. Instead of trying to solve Job’s suffering, Elihu points to the greatness of God – His power, His wisdom, and His work in creation. The focus shifts from why is this happening to who is God, really?
This doesn’t minimize Job’s pain. Instead, it reframes it. Elihu reminds Job that human understanding is limited, but God’s wisdom is not. There are things God is doing that are far beyond what we can see or explain in the moment. Perspective doesn’t always give us answers, but it can give us peace.
When we stop demanding full explanations and start trysting God’s character, our hearts begin to rest. God is not distant or careless. He is powerful, purposeful, and at work in ways we don’t yet understand. Job 33-37 invites us to life our eyes. To step back. To remember that even when life feels confusion, God’s wisdom is steady, trustworthy, and far greater than our limited view.
Where might God be inviting you to zoom out and trust His wisdom even when you don’t have all the answers?
