Pastor Hana’s Weekly Reflection
Awe replaces answers when God draws near.
Have you ever asked a question and then realized the answer was way bigger than you expected? Like you wanted a simple explanation, but instead, you were reminded how small your perspective really is? That’s what happens when God finally speaks in Job 38.
After chapters of silence, debate, pain, and questions, God finally responds – not with explanations, but with revelation. God doesn’t tell Job why he suffered. Instead, He shows Job who He is. God speaks about creation, the universe, and the forces Job could never control or comprehend. The message is clear: God’s wisdom is far greater than human understanding.
And something shifts in Job. He doesn’t get all the answers he wanted, but he gets something better – a deeper awareness of God. Job moves from demanding explanations to standing in awe. His response isn’t despair; it’s humility. He realizes that even in suffering, God was never absent, careless, or powerless.
In the end, God restores Job – not just materially, but relationally. God affirms Job’s honesty, rebukes the friends who spoke without humility, and brings healing after the long season of pain. Job’s story is a testament that faith isn’t about having everything figured out. It’s about trusting the God who does. Sometimes, God doesn’t answer our questions the way we expect, but He always reveals Himself, and that is enough.
Where might God be inviting you to move from needing answers to trusting His presence and wisdom?
