Pastor Hana’s Weekly Reflection
-
What struggles or “wrestling” moments in your life are shaping your faith and identity in God?
Renewal isn’t starting over, it’s returning to the One who never left.
You know when your phone is glitching and the only fix is to restart it, and suddenly it works again. Sometimes our faith needs the same thing. A reset. By Genesis 35, Jacob's family had drifted. They were carrying idols, tension and distractions, but God called Jacob back to Bethel to build an altar and renew his commitment.
Jacob's whole household sets aside the things, pulling them away and turns back to God. The altar at Bethel wasn't just stones stacked together. It was a sign of surrender and worship. It marked a turning point where Jacob and his family said. We're God's people and we're choosing him again. Renewal is about more than starting over.
It's about returning to God with fresh devotion. Just like Jacob's family, we can easily let distractions, sin or even busyness, pull our focus away from him. But God always invites us back to repent, to remember his faithfulness and to live with a renewed heart. And renewal is something we all need. Maybe for you, it’s letting go of habits or distractions that keep you away from God.
Maybe it's recommitting to prayer, scripture or worship, or maybe it's simply remembering how God has been faithful and saying, God, I'm giving you my heart again.
